Dual Language Program
We are honored to be working in partnership with Boston College and the TWIN-CS (Two-Way Immersion Network for Catholic Schools) program. Please click on the picture link for more information!
Since 2008, St Matthew Catholic School has adopted a “dual-language” model, teaching students in both Spanish and English beginning with Kindergarten and this school year 2017-2018 expanding into the 8th grade.
Five years ago, it joined a national consortium under the sponsorship of Boston College making it possible for the school to access the resources of the Roche Center for Catholic Education at the Lynch School of Education at Boston College.
For the last five summers the leadership and a couple of teachers of the school have traveled to Massachusetts for a week of intensive training in dual-language instruction.
This year 2017-2018 the school is looking forward to expanding Language Arts and Religion instruction in Spanish in the middle school. Our 6th, 7th and 8th graders will be receiving a period of instruction in Spanish four days a week from a teacher trained and certified in Mexico.
